Help Files
If you have any questions about sections of the item database, then you've come to the right place. :)What does the "partial", "contains", and "exact" mean next to Item Name, Item Description, and Item Image?
- Partial means that your search will return any item with your search term anywhere in the field. For example, searching "sand" would return items such as bottles of sand, and sandwiches. This is the most general.
- Contains means that your search will return any item with your search term as a single word in the field. For example, searching "sand" would only return items such as bottles of sand. This is in between general and specific.
- Exact means that your search will return any item with your search term as the sole word in the field. For example, searching "sand" would have to return an item called Sand. (There isn't actually an item called Sand, but you get the meaning. :D) This is the most specific.
What the heck is Item Status!?
We've assigned a status to each item in our database. Below is what each one means.
- Active - Basically, we have all of the information on this item, and we've received the unique item ID. An item ID can be found in a user's shop, Safety Deposit Box, gallery, etc. (More on this later in the page.)
- Not Announced - An item is Not Announced if the item has not been mentioned at all in the New Features and all we know about it is the item's image URL.
- Searchable - A Searchable item is when it can be found via the sidebar search or the Shop Wizard says "Searching for... *item name*". This means that it is in the Neopets item system, but an ID has not been found yet. (It may have also been announced in the news.)
- MIA - An item is MIA if none of the above criteria are met. The item has been announced in the news, but it has not been added to the item system by TNT.
- 1-Player BD - These items are all weapons used by 1-player Battledome challengers, such as the Pant Devil and the Tax Beast.
- No Trade - Any No Trade item is unable to be moved from your account. This includes items such as PB exclusive clothing, various plot items, and some newbie pack items.
What is the Item Image field?
Every item has a picture URL. We make this searchable in the advanced section. All item image URLs begin with http://images.neopets.com/items/ and end with .gif.
What are the rarity limitations?
No rarity can be greater than 500, so the field will only take 3 numbers, and will reject your search if it's greater than 500. The purpose is to return all items with the rarity you input. This is a great way to obtain a r99 listing. :)
What is Item Category?
Every item on Neopets is grouped into a special category. They generally indicate what Neopian Shop the item restocks at. For example, all of the items in the Baked category stock in the bakery (if they're rarity 100 and lower, of course).
What are Jellyneo's special categories?
The item categories that Neopets uses aren't the most inclusive. We've specially gone through the DB and placed some of the items into special categories. For example, all of the concert freebies (posters, plushies, mugs, etc.) are placed into our "Concert Swag" category. You can't find these special groupings on Neopets; they're solely for easy database searching. ;)
What are the specifics on the sorting features?
You can sort your searches in three ways. By choosing Name, you sort your results by their name. Ascending is A-Z order, and Descending is Z-A order. By choosing Release, you sort your results by the item ID number. This is a unique number given to each item, and the lower IDs were the first items, whereas the highest IDs are the newest items. By choosing Rarity, you obviously sort the results by their rarity number. The Price sort will show the cheapest (or most expensive) items that have been priced in the Database. Those that currently do not have a price won't be shown in the results.
What is an Item ID?
An item ID is a unique number given to each item, and the lower IDs were the first items, whereas the highest IDs are the newest items. We need this number in order for an item to be considered Active. For details on obtaining an ID number, click here.
What is Neohome Vision?
For some of the furniture items in the database, we offer the ability to see what an item looks like from the top down. This is useful in determining if you'd like to purchase it for your Neohome, as some items change drastically or are not in perspective.
How can I tell if an item is Wearable?
An item that is wearable will be marked with a blue (wearable) marking in your inventory or SDB. However, that doesn't work in the Trading Post, Shops, or Auctions. In our Database, we put all of the Wearable clothing in the Wearable Category. Looking up an individual item will also show what pets can wear that specific piece of clothing. Alternatively, you can visit the Pet Wearability Page to see which pieces of clothing a certain pet can wear.
